Day 1: Jubilation!

I knew that I shouldn't be looking, but I had to anyways.  On the Craigslist search bar I typed in the word "puppies", and it was a tease to myself every time I did!  I wanted a dog so bad, but my parents were adamant about not letting me have one.  "You don't have time Courtney", they said.  "You're not spending OUR money for the vet", they said.  Whatever.  I was determined that somehow, and soon, that I would have puppy.
One night I was studying, so naturally, I found something else to do.  I had a bright idea to search for puppies again on Craigslist.  I knew I wanted a small breed that didn't shed and usually Craigslist doesn't have postings for puppies like that, but I wanted to look anyways.  Low and behold there was a posting that read "Shorkie puppies".  I knew automatically that shorkie meant a shih tzu and a yorkie mix and that would be perfect for me!
So excited to finally get my own puppy!
A few emails to the owner of the puppies later and I had a day set up to go see the puppies and pick one out in person!  The only problem left was my parents.  I called my parents that day and told them that not only would I be responsible but that I would also have the money because the internship I had set up for that summer would pay me enough to take care of myself and the puppy.  It was my lucky day because my parents said YES!  FINALLY!  I could have a puppy!

This was my puppy when I first got her on May 2, 2012 (getting close to a year now).  She was only 6 weeks old then.  I decided to name her Jubilee after the album "Carolina Jubilee" by my favorite band The Avett Brothers.  I've felt like a new mom with a newborn ever since, but it's worth it!  Like I said, she's almost a year old now, but she's still really small.  Her dad was a toy yorkie so that explains her size, and she won't be getting much bigger!  She is really attached to me, but she LOVES other people and dogs too which is a great quality to have in a dog.

She's a little angel and I love her!
